GE Profile Refrigerator Defrost Failure

Ice building up on the back wall of a GE Profile freezer (PFE28, PYE22) points to the defrost system - usually the heater, sometimes the thermostat, rarely the board. We test the heater's resistance first because it's the culprit in most cases, and once it's in, you get years more out of the fridge.

GE Washer Suspension Rod Wear (GTW Series)

A GE top-loader (GTW685, GTW720, GTW840) that bangs the wall on spin has suspension rods that lost their damping. The lE code eventually follows. We replace all four rods as a kit, since they wear together, in about 90 minutes. The banging stops.

GE Dishwasher Will Not Drain (PDT, GDT)

A GE dishwasher (PDT715, GDT695) holding water at the bottom usually has a tired drain pump, a clogged air gap at the sink, or debris in the sump screen. The pump check takes 5 minutes with a meter - we do that before quoting anything, because the air-gap fix costs a fraction of a pump.

GE Cafe Range Convection Fan Failure

If your Cafe range heats fine but bakes unevenly and the fan stays silent during preheat, the convection fan motor has seized or its element opened. It's a 90-minute repair from the back of the range; Cafe-specific parts arrive in 2-4 days.

Electric Dryer No-Heat (DXE, GTD Series)

A GE dryer with no heat comes down to three suspects: the element, the high-limit thermostat, or the cycling thermostat. We test all three with a meter before replacing anything - and we always inspect the vent, because a blocked vent is usually what killed the part in the first place.

GE Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve and Filter

No water at the door dispenser? Try the filter first - past its 6-month life it can choke the flow entirely, and that's a fix you can do yourself for the cost of a filter. If a fresh filter doesn't bring the water back, the inlet valve is next, and we test it before replacing.

Haier bought GE Appliances in 2016, but the engineering, design, and assembly still run out of Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky. Yes, and it is well documented. Certain GE French door refrigerators built between 2014 and 2019 fail at the main control board, and the failure traces to the original design, not to anything the owner did.
