GE Profile bottom-freezer and French-door refrigerators (PFE28, PYE22 series) frost up in the freezer compartment when the defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or main control board fails to cycle properly. Diagnostic order: defrost heater resistance test (60% of cases), thermostat continuity (25%), control board (15%). The visible symptom is ice buildup on the back wall of the freezer.
GE top-load washers (GTW685, GTW720, GTW840 Profile series) develop spin imbalance once the suspension rods lose damping fluid. The cabinet bangs against the wall during high-speed spin and the load eventually goes off-balance enough to trigger the lE error code. Replace all 4 rods as a kit, 90-minute job, parts on the truck.
GE Profile dishwashers (PDT715, GDT695 series) fail to evacuate water when the drain pump motor stalls or the drain hose at the disposal air gap clogs. GE Cafe gas and dual-fuel ranges (CGS, C2S series) lose convection function when the fan motor seizes or the convection element opens. Distinctive symptom: oven heats to setpoint but baking is uneven and the fan does not run during preheat. GE electric dryers (DXE, GTD58 series) fail to produce heat when the heating element coil opens, the high-limit thermostat trips from blocked exhaust, or the cycling thermostat fails. We test all three with a multimeter on the exposed terminals before any parts come out of the truck. Vent inspection is mandatory: a new element on a still-blocked vent fails within weeks.
